Established in 1994 in Washington, DC, the National Hispanic Medical Association is a non-profit association representing the interests of 50,000 licensed Hispanic physicians in the United States. NHMA is dedicated to empowering Hispanic physicians to be leaders who will help eliminate health disparities and improve the health of Hispanics. NHMA's vision is to be the national leader to improve the health of Hispanic populations.
In 2017, NHMA created a task force of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to promote membership and engagement, assess the barriers and facilitators for participation of IMGs at NHMA, and to provide leadership, mentorship and networking opportunities for IMGs.
Mission of IMG task force: To engage IMGs of Hispanic/Latino origin to promote their participation in NHMA and increase their success during the integration to the US healthcare system.
